Privacy.
This site has no account, no login and no analytics cookie. Reading it and ticking off days sends nothing anywhere. Only two things ever leave your browser, and only when you choose them: a message you send on the contact page, and the Facebook player once you press play on the home page video.
What is stored, and where
The activities you tick off and the notes you type are saved in your own browser, under one key named pieceofdutch.werkboek.v1. They stay on this device. They are not sent to a server, they are not readable by anyone else, and they are gone the moment you clear your browser data or use the "Clear my progress" button on the home page. Opening the site on another device starts you at zero, because there is nowhere for the progress to have travelled.
The contact form
If you write to me on the contact page, the name and message you type are sent to me as one email through Resend, an email delivery service. Nothing else is asked for and nothing is kept on this site. To keep spam out, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person is sending; it processes technical data such as your IP address and browser signals for that check, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. The check only runs on the contact page.
Hosting
The pages are static files served by Cloudflare Pages. Like every web server, it processes the request itself, which includes your IP address, in order to deliver the page and to defend against abuse. That is the hosting provider's own processing; this site sets no cookie and runs no tracking script of its own.
Links that leave this site
Most activities send you to someone else's page: YouTube, NPO, FutureLearn, italki, a podcast, an app. Once you click, you are on their site under their privacy policy, and they may set cookies or profile you in ways this site neither controls nor sees. Nothing is embedded here, so none of that happens until you actually click.
The one exception is the video on the home page. It is hosted on Facebook, and the page shows only a still image of it, stored on this site. When you press play, the Facebook video player loads, and from then on Facebook (Meta) processes data such as your IP address and may set cookies, under Meta's own privacy policy. Until you press play, no request goes to Facebook.
Fonts and assets
The typefaces are served from this site's own domain. No request goes to Google Fonts or any other third party while you read a page.
